Julian Hale’s talks are usually held once a month. These special sessions, supported by the CBTI-BKVT Anglo-French Network (RAF), take the form of open discussions in English on cultural topics such as history, literature, and language.
💡 What to expect
An informal, interactive evening where participants can bring along something cultural or language-related — a book, an article, an anecdote, or simply a question.
Think of it as a free-flowing conversation, where topics might include:
- Why English shamelessly raids French for half its vocabulary
- The odd things history textbooks don’t tell you
- Expressions that defy translation (and make us laugh trying)
- The cultural meaning of food and drink (wine, tea, or Marmite… discuss!)
We’ll go where the conversation takes us, and also brainstorm future sessions.
